Culvert Shoring for Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (Princess falls - Hwy 403)

  • Groundbreaking Foundations installed a Secant Pile Wall (Caisson wall) for roadway protection on Hwy 403. This work had to be done at night due to the traffic and space constraints. This work required a significant amount of rock drilling on the Hamilton escarpment

Culvert Shoring for City of Brampton

  • Groundbreaking Foundations installed a combination of Secant Pile Wall (Caisson wall) and Piles & Lagging wall for roadway protection on Mayfield Rd. This work had significant access constraints due to the existing configuration of Mayfield Rd. The piles were 1m in diameter, 15m deep with a minimum of 2.5m rock penetration.

Narrow footprint retaining wall & Acoustic Fence for Urbacon (Humberline Drive)

  • Groundbreaking completed this Noise Wall/Retaining Wall project in the spring of 2019. The client required an acoustic barrier along the perimeter of the property while also tackling some issues caused by undulating ground. This narrow footprint retaining wall solution along with the acoustic barrier on top provided them with the solution they needed.

Noise barrier wall for Woodbridge Park Townhomes

Noise barrier wall for Woodbridge Park Townhomes

  • Groundbreaking completed this Noise Wall on a Non-Engineered berm in Vaughan, Ontario. This project required caissons up to 14m deep to accommodate the geotechnical constraints. This 5m high acoustic barrier separates the townhome development from the adjacent railway tracks.

  • Groundbreaking Foundations installed a noise barrier wall in Grimsby with foundations going into rock. This project had challenges created by challenging access (working off a berm) and challenging soil due to high groundwater table. The foundation caissons were up to 9m deep with 3m of rock penetration.

Noise Barrier Wall for City of Brampton

  • Groundbreaking constructed a noise barrier wall that is over 4,200 meters in length along the Williams Parkway corridor between Highway 410 & McLaughlin Rd N. This was a legacy project with the City involving an architect to incorporate intricate architectural design and finishes. This project constituted of over 1500 structural elements (galvanized steel posts) installed with precision to fit several thousand composite precast panels with specific designs and patterns within each bay.

Noise Barrier Enclosure for City of Toronto (Toronto High Level Pumping Station)

  • Groundbreaking Foundations installed a noise barrier wall enclosure at the Toronto high level pumping station. This project had challenges created by limited access and saturated soil due to high groundwater table. The foundation caissons were 6m deep and the tolerance for the plumbness and location was extremely tight.

Architectural Hoarding for City of Toronto (Ashbridge’s Bay)

  • Groundbreaking Foundations installed architectural hoarding at the Ashbridge’s bay wastewater treatment plant in Toronto. This project had challenges created by difficult access as the site servicing and swale construction had been completed prior to us mobilizing. The steel panels for the metal hoarding were manufactured independently to the post installation which meant that the posts had to be installed to a very tight tolerance.
